Dental Implants

For those who are missing teeth, dental implants help restore health and beauty to your smile. Implants are attached to your jawbone unlike dentures or traditional bridges. Dental implants look and feel more like your own teeth. Adequate bone in the jaw is needed to support your new implant, and the ideal candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal diseases.Read More

Before you can get dental implants, must be a viable candidate. You must have enough bone to provide an anchor for the implant. The implant procedure has two main parts. First, the implant is placed into the jaw bone and given time to heal. This process called osseointegration can take from up to six months and when completed the implant will be connected to the jaw bone. Next, the cosmetic dentist places a temporary crown on the implant to allow growth of the gum. Finally, a permanent crown replaces the temporary one. The success rate of implants according to numerous sources is up to 98%. The upper jaw area has a slight lower success rate of 95% because it is less dense than the lower jaw.

The cost of dental implants varies depending on what a patient needs to get done. For instance, one implant and a crown can cost at least $5,000. If a patient needs a full-mouth restoration (both top and bottom teeth) the cost can be upwards of $100,000. Remember these are estimates and each Miami cosmetic dentist may different prices.
